A Study on the Location and Spatial Organization Specific of the Neighbor on Rear Bangwhasurujung in Suwon Castle

ABSTRACT : This paper aims to discuss the characteristics of location and spatial organization specific of the neighbor on rear Bangwhawsurujung in Suwon castle. To do this, we studied in two ways.; analysis of the present
conditions and photographing, research materials about the form of physical structure and review of historical
documents. The result of analysis in the sight of the location and spatial structure was good matched. At the beginning, the neighbor on rear Bangwhasurujung had spaces for the military affairs a function in Suwon castle but after 1794, shows transitional pattern that the King Jungjo and Soldiers relaxation space were added. The spatial organization specific of the neighbor on rear Bangwhasurujung was divided yuonghyun and kakru. In the neighbor on rear Bangwhasurujung was imported borrowed scenery of surrounding landscape and while placed arranging various constituent elements of small-scale building, decorated walls, small-scale island and stone-draining in trying to formalize the landscape. The result of this study, the political and social, technical phenomena which constitute the physical construction pattern affected the locational property and the spatial organization of to neighbor on. rear Bangwhawsurujung.
