Comparison of Vulnerability Assessment Models to Climate Change in Forest Sectors
Chong Soo Lee, Woo Kyun Lee, Yow han Son, Yong sung Cho and Chul Chul Song ABSTRACT : Climate change on our ecosystem is a worldwide concern so that many countries all over the world have been tried to understand its impact, adaptation, and vulnerability to prevent or mitigate significant threat to the sustainability of our environment. There is little doubt that Korea, as the part of the world. will also face climate change and its effect. Thus, methods for the assessment of vulnerability to climate change have to be elaborated as well as climate
change impact and adaptation researches. However. there have not been extensive researches for the vulnerability to climate change in Korea. The objective of this study is to establish framework for selecting eco5}'l;tem model because the vulnerability to climate change is assessed and predicted based on ecosystem models. 10 this study, we reviewed and compared 4 ecosystem models : 1) Carbon Exchange between Vegetation , Soil. and the Atmosphere (CEVSA), 2) Multi-layered Integrnted Numerical Model of Surface Physics (MINoSGI). 3) Sim-CYCLE, and 4) MCl. As a result. CEVSA model were selected because it is compatible with spatial data. such as GIS and remotely sensed data. and this model include forest succession process in simulating energy transfer and matter cycles when we quantify the vulnerability to climate changes. Key words : climate change, forest ecosystem. CEVSA model. vulnerability assessment. |
